Dr. Stepkovitch has a sincere passion for assisting his patients to their optimal level of functioning. This passion helps to guide his approach to treatment planning so that his patients can experience maximum outcomes. At CNY TMS Psychiatry, patients can expect the best quality of care. Dr. Stepkovitch:

A native of Upstate, New York, Dr. Stepkovitch obtained his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, completed his internship at St Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan, and is a graduate of the psychiatry residency program at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Dr. Stepkovitch is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.   


Dr Stepkovitch has worked in community mental health extensively. He served as the medical director for Cortland County Mental Health, where he worked for nearly ten years, and has also worked at Hutchings Psychiatric Center, the Syracuse VA, and Liberty Resources.


Dr. Stepkovitch started CNY TMS to provide more effective treatment options for those refractory to conventional medications. He, as well as countless others in the mental health field are excited by the positive results patients are experiencing after TMS treatment.

Our office is located in Central New York in the village of Marcellus, about 20 minutes outside the city of Syracuse. Dr. Stepkovitch shares his office with his wife, Dr. Khatuna Stepkovitch who is an Internist and Geriatrician.


We are open Monday through Friday, from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Jason Stepkovitch, MD

Jason Stepkovitch, MD is a board certified psychiatrist who completed his internship at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan and his psychiatric residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Dr. Stepkovitch has extensive experience in community mental health, having served in the past as medical director for Cortland County Mental Health. The director of CNY Psychiatry, Dr. Stepkovitch also has maintained a private practice for the past ten years, where he provides comprehensive psychiatric care to his patients in a personalized setting. Dr Stepkovitch founded CNY Psychiatry out of a desire to offer further options to individuals who were not obtaining maximum benefit from standard mental health treatments.

Salvator Argiro, MD

Salvator Argiro, M.D., is a board-certified psychiatrist with a certificate of additional qualifications in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS therapy). Dr. Argiro is dedicated to providing evidenced-based, quality psychiatric care with extensive experience in the public and private inpatient and outpatient settings. He is a member of the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology and American Psychiatric Association, and continues active clinical practice as a consulting psychiatrist at Lourdes Center for mental health and is on staff at Greater Binghampton Health Center.


Dr. Argiro is a graduate of Syracuse University where he received his Masters of Science in Neuroscience, and SUNY Upstate Medical University, where he received his medical degree. He continued his psychiatric residency at University Hospital - Syracuse, and has received his board certification in the field of psychiatric medicine.

Khatuna Stepkovitch, MD

Khatuna Stepkovitch, MD is board-certified in both internal medicine and geriatric medicine, and has extensive experience and expertise in the diagnosing and treatment of memory disorders. Dr. Stepkovitch currently directs the memory program for CNY Psychiatry, but also has her own primary care practice through MDVIP, a personalized primary care practice which focuses on preventive care, as well as a geriatric consultation practice.


Dr. Stepkovitch believes that TMS therapy for memory fits into her over-arching treatment philosophy of prevention, as mounting evidence is showing the benefits of electromagnetic stimulation for the aging brain. She has structured our memory program to include a comprehensive memory evaluation and consultation, followed by a personalized TMS memory treatment program for those deemed to be good candidates.

Joanne Bigness

Joanne Bigness, FNP-BC, FMHNP-BC

Joanne Bigness is a nationally board certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Family Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She completed advanced practice nursing degrees at SUNY Binghamton Decker School of Nursing where she was also a faculty member for 8 years. Joanne has over 24 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner working with all age groups in both private and public settings. She is a member of the NYS Nurse Practitioner Association and the national nursing honor society, Sigma Theta Tau.


Joanne believes having the courage to seek help for depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions is a sign of strength and hope for a brighter future. Her practice focuses on individualized patient centered holistic care where patient needs are prioritized and current evidence based practice recommendations are implemented to develop a plan of care that will promote optimal health.
